The College of Environmental Science & Engineering is dedicated to training professionals in the field of ecological environment protection and water supply and drainage engineering. Currently the College has three majors for undergraduates: Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, and Water Supply and Drainage Engineering. The major of environmental engineering is set for training engineers and administrators specialized in ecological environmental pollution prevention and control, the major of environmental science is set for training technologists and managers for ecological environmental pollution prevention and control, and the major of water supply and drainage engineering is set for training engineers and administrators for water supply and drainage projects. The College also has Master and Doctoral programs for graduates. Each year, approximately 30 Masters in Environmental Science, 30 Masters in Environmental Engineering, and 10 Doctors in eco-environmental engineering are enrolled each year.

The College is composed of vigorous and creative staff with high quality. There are 27 full-time tenures with doctor degree in our college, including 11 professors, 14 associate professors and 2 lecturers. Our tenures have been awarded many honors in national, provincial, or ministerial levels for their contributions in science and technology and teaching achievements, etc.

The College positively takes part in scientific researches concerning eco-environment protection and water supply and drainage, with 80 projects on going. Our college has achieved many influential scientific achievements recently, including 3 state awards, 6 provincial and ministerial awards, 60 national patents, and over 120 SCI-indexed journal papers.

The College has the Engineering Research Center for Water Pollution Source Control, Beijing Key Laboratory, the Engineering Research Center for Water Pollution Source Control and Eco-remediation, and the Beijing University Engineering Research Center. Our College has established an advanced experimental platform for teaching and possesses dozens of demonstration models for water treatment, air pollution control and membrane separation devices. The College is also well equipped with many advanced instruments and facilities, including X-ray diffractometer (XRD), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography (LC), ion chromatography (IC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectrophotometer, total organic carbon analyzer, atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), surface potentiometric titrator, specific surface analyzer, elemental analyzer, microscopic optics, multi-parameter water quality analyzer, Bio-rad denatured gradient gel electrophoresis, gel imaging analysis system, gradient PCR amplification system, electrolytic respirometer, automatic fermentor, ultra low-temperature freezer and high-speed freezing centrifuge, which ensure the teaching and scientific research training in advanced level for undergraduates major in environmental science, environmental engineering and water supply and drainage engineering and graduates.

The college pays great attention to world-wild connection and collaboration, and has established close relationship with specialists from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Australia, Japan and South Korea for academic communications, expert visits and cooperative researches, etc.
